Choral Residency at Bristol Cathedral
July 24, 2011 - August 4, 2011
Next summer the Canterbury Singers and St. Cecilia Choirs will participate in an English Cathedral Choral Residency coordinated by Casterbridge Tours in Staunton, VA. The goal of the Residency is to learn about our Anglican heritage and sing to the glory of God in the sacred cathedrals of England.
The 12-day journey will be an invaluable means of personal growth, historical perspective and cultural understanding for all who join us. The main feature of the Residency will be the choirs’ service as the “cathedral choir” at Bristol Cathedral. Choral duties will include:
- Daily Evensong and Sunday morning Choral Eucharist at Bristol Cathedral
- Concerts at Bath Abbey and Canterbury Cathedral
The residency will also include a variety of recreational and cultural activities to complement the choral activities which include:
- Bath – Roman Baths, Royal Crescent, Circus, Assembly Rooms
- Wells – Cathedral, Vicars Close, Bishop’s Palace
- Longelat House
- Salisbury Cathedral – The Magna Carta
- London – Westminster and Whitehall, Westminster Abbey, Tower of London
- Canterbury Cathedral
We welcome the parish’s participation in this experience of a lifetime - registration is open to all! If you would like to come as a singer, chaperone or supporter we would love for you to join us. All are welcome to share God’s glory through music!
