Stewardship

"Life is enhanced when a congregation works at building and sustaining authentic community."

Our stewardship commitment is based on the realization that everything comes from God. God, the giver of all good things, has made us stewards for the span of our lives. God is love and gives all to us as acts of love. We are made in God's image and find our true selves when we, like God, love and give. The community of Christ Church believes that stewardship is every member's responsibility to commit to our congregation, in grateful response to God's blessings, a portion of the time. talent, and treasure given each of us. We acknowledge and affirm the tithe (10%) as the standard of commitment prescribed in the Old and New Testament and in the Episcopal Church. Through practice, the Christ Church community has found the joy in putting God first in giving what we have so graciously received.

Spiritual Gifts
A lot of this above talk also relates to your Spiritual Gifts. We have spent a lot of time and are continuing a journey of discovering our individual gifts. We define a “gift” as something that when we do it, we are filled with joy. That is the ‘gift” –that we perform some service, whether feeding the poor or weeding the church garden or stuffing envelopes – that helps others and at the same time makes us feel joy – (and a sense of God’s presence).  As one of our members said – be patient – when you find your gift, you will know it. Others call this concept of your “gift” your “calling” – whatever it is, we each have gifts to share, and at Christ Church we believe that sharing is a core part of being a faithful Christian.
